Let the Countdown Begin!

This week in the Busy Bees Classroom we have started the countdown of the last 10 days of school.  We have had something slightly out of the ordinary each day this week.  On Monday morning we played some fun games on the giant screen in the classroom and we did a Read Aloud Afternoon and managed to finish all but 5 pages of "Charlotte's Web."  (We finished the book first thing Tuesday morning.)  Tuesday, we worked very hard all day long and made many class books.  If I had thought about this before, we wouldn't have had to do quite so many in such a short time.  However, I wanted each student to be able to take home a class book to help them remember their classmates by.  Since we only had 3 class books done beforehand, we made 15 on Tuesday (and part of Wednesday).  Wednesday we spent the morning finishing up the class books and then we had MobyMax time.  We have our final contest for the year going on right now so the students were very excited to earn more points for that and continue earning badges on the site.  Wednesday afternoon we spent cleaning the classroom and getting ready for Open House that night.  We had a very successful turn out in our class for Open House and had almost all of the students come and show off their hard work to family members.  (Thank you to all of you who could find the time at such a crazy time of year to support your student.)  Thursday morning, we walked over to Mountain Vista Middle School and the P.E. teachers there had some very exciting games for all of the 2nd graders at KES to try.  The class ran around for a good hour and came back quite exhausted.

For Thursday afternoon, the class got some much deserved free time.  We had students playing games, doing puzzles, and even on the Chromebooks.
Friday was a day of much excitement.  We started the day with a movie and enjoyed the animated version of "Charlotte's Web."  We did also start a second movie, but didn't have time to finish it so that our class could attend FIELD DAY!  Field Day was a huge success and our PTO at KES did a wonderful and organized job of the whole day.  So much work, but the kids had a great time.

We have definitely had a very fun week.  Next week we also have some fun events to look forward to.  *Just a Reminder: Tuesday - Friday (June 13th -16th) are minimum days and students will be dismissed at 12:20*
Have a wonderful weekend!
